Magnetron sputtering is a form of PVD coating technology. The vacuum chamber is filled with an inert gas, such as argon. By applying a high voltage, a glow discharge is created, resulting in the acceleration of ions to the target surface. This process increases efficiency, provides higher sputter rates, and improves ion bombardment during the growth of the coating.
